Manitex announces a new tip height for two of its models: 124SX and 40124S.
Manitex has introduced a new tip height for its successful 124SX and
40124S models, extending its reach to 190’, approximately 13% higher
than the previous 166’.
Used primarily in the power grid construction field, the new tip
height on the 124SX and 40124S is in response to increasing demands
in the market. “Power lines are now carrying more current and
therefore need to be lifted off the ground higher. That’s where the
improved 124SX and 40124S come in,” says Scott Rolston, President of
Manitex Inc.
These machines have also been successfully used in the building of
ethanol plants in the Midwest. “The increased height allows for
construction of the aerial grain elevators,” explains Randy
Robertson, Director of Sales and Marketing for Manitex, Inc.,
talking about the various applications of the crane.
Manitex is looking to increase its share market in the segments of
power grid construction and other similar applications. The company
has steadily and aggressively positioned itself as a “one-stop shop”
for lifting equipment. “We have what it takes to get the job done
from forklifts to taxi cranes. Specializing in various niche markets
is one of our strengths” concludes Randy Robertson speaking of the
improved working tip heights as a response to a special need in the
industry.

Hoist Drum Rotation Indicator—HDRI
Manitex, Inc. is now incorporating the Hoist Drum Rotation Indicator
(HDRI) as a standard feature on their 40‐ and 50‐ton machines. The hoist drum rotation indicator is an electronically operated system that provides the operator with touch indication
of dru rotation. This enables the operator to tell if the drum is rotating, and at what speed, even under the most distracting conditions.
The indicator assembly consists of three main parts - the magnetic sensor, the controller unit, and the indicator unit. The sensor senses the rotation of the motor shaft, and thus, indirectly, the hoist drum. The sensor is connected by electrical wiring to the controller unit that acts as a pulse generator. The controller sends a pulsating signal proportional to rotation speed to the indicator unit. The indicator unit, located in the control lever handle, pulsates in time with the signal from the controller unit.
“Offering HDRI as a standard feature in our larger machines just makes sense. Giving better load control to the operators is a task we
at Manitex are always working to improve,” says Scott Rolston, General Manager
at Manitex.

Manitex is pleased to announce the addition of the Noble TrailerMate TM50 truck mounted fork lift to its line of lift equipment. The first Manitex built TM50, displayed at the ICUEE equipment trade show in October 2007, generated a good amount of interest from existing and potential dealers as well as from the general public in attendance.
The TM50, originally designed on PTC’s Pro Engineer software; is supported by an advanced engineered frame designed to overcome historically high stress concentration areas. The TM50 is a rough terrain truck mounted forklift that is powered by a highly dependable Perkins diesel engine and driven by three hydrostatic wheel drives. The TM50 is proven technology that has a well respected track record for dependability and productivity.
The TrailerMates’ features and qualities promote new applications year after year. In addition to new applications the TM50 continues to gain in popularity and widespread acceptance in traditional applications, such as: brick, block, lumber, building materials, roofing materials, etc., which recognizes the TrailerMates' benefits of capacity and stability while carrying and placing loads on the jobsite.
In addition to production and sale of the TrailerMate TM50, Manitex is gearing up to support the hundreds of units already in the field. The TrailerMates’ addition to our UpTime program will include all the advantages our customers expect for parts and service support.
We are confident that the advantages the TrailerMate TM50 affords owners and users will ensure its success at Manitex. If you want to be part of the Manitex TrailerMate Team, call any of our regional business managers to inquire about dealership opportunities.

Manitex completed testing of the first 50 ton boom truck available on a commercially available chassis in April. The crane has a base rating of 50 tons at a 6' radius, a rating 25% above currently produced boom trucks, and meets published road and federal bridge laws when configured with a tag axle in addition to a tandem driving axle.
The Company has received a high level of interest from a wide range of end users, including rental companies, taxi crane operators, oil and gas service operators, and service support providers in the mining industry. The versatility of the crane is demonstrated by its cross over use into lifting markets traditionally supported by truck cranes mounted on custom carriers. Based on its internal research, the Company believes it is addressing a $100 million market with this vehicle.
Scott Rolston, General Manager of Manitex Inc. commented, "We believe that we have set new standards for the boom truck market with this product and are excited by our customer's response to its introduction. We have worked closely with customers to design a truck that meets and exceeds their needs at this tonnage capacity."
50 ton Boom Truck Technical features:
